Today my tour started Downtown Nanaimo, on the Highway 1 to Crofton, by ferry to Salt Spring Island, from Fulford Harbour by ferry to Swartz Bay and on the Lochsite Bike Route to Victoria. The ferries I used today were much more smaller than the days before so the waiting time for both ferries was less than 30 min. The tour started again with rain and ended up with a mix of clouds and rain, still no Oakley time! ;)
The Lochsite Bike Route is a very good alternation to the Highway 17 on the way from Swartz Bay to Victoria, even if it takes a little bit longer you have got ocean view and drive through the rich suburbs of Victoria with very nice houses.
I am glad again to made some good distance even if the weather was worse. So this is my last day in Canada, tomorrow morning 08:30 I will head on with the ferry to Port Angeles/USA. I am also happy to found a hostel Downtown Victoria which is located less than 1km from the ferry terminal, so I will have no time pressure tomorrow morning as the second ferry to Port Angeles leaves 4 pm which means I will lose a day if I miss the ferry tomorrow morning.
I am staying in the Ocean Island Inn (28$ per night, 4 bed dorm).
Despite of the rough Canadian weather and the hard start in my journey I survived without any physical problems and any equipment problems, not even a puncture :)
106 km / 785m altitude difference (excl. ferry rides)
